With Prof. Dr. Peter Adamson through 5,000 Years of Cultural History

Since October 2026, the Cluster of Excellence Cross-Cultural Philology has been producing its own podcast, “Pages of History”.

The podcast is hosted by Prof. Dr Peter Adamson, Chair of Late Ancient and Arabic Philosophy at the LMU Munich.

How were texts written down, preserved, and interpreted? How did textual practices, from habits of reading to formal commentary, shape the traditions of the pre-modern world? What happened when texts moved across cultural and linguistic boundaries?

Prominent guests of the first three episodes:

• Episode 1: Prof. Dr. Lorraine Daston (History of Science) on Philology as a Science
• Episode 2: Prof. Dr. Beate Kellner (Medieval German) on Cain and Abel
• Episode 3: Prof. Dr. Holger Gzella (Old Testament Theology) on Aramaic
